Politics: Think They Do Matter Now?

Had some late requests for election lawn signs today. It was Friday and the riding I am volunteering in is half the size of Hungary so I decided to get an early start. As I made my way out the front door I startled a raccoon crossing my path. First time I have ever startled one of those. Usually they just look at me as if I have something to tell them in their alien tongue.

There's like hundreds of school buses on the road on weekday mornings I discovered. Before I retired I was on the road long before the yellow monsters got on the road and home after most of them were parked for the day. Since I retired I have not even had my first cup of tea before they are parked for the day and I know better than to be on the road in the mid-afternoon.

It was a beautiful morning to visit a couple rural neighbourhoods I had never got near before. The birds sang, the dogs barked and the election signs rattled reassuringly in the back of my car like a pocket full of pesos on a beach run in Mexico.

I am looking forward to watching the results being broadcast Monday night. I am looking forward to the future. It never waits you know.
