Said my goodbye to the local Bay store today. Not a fuck of a lot left except fixtures and trousers with 54" waists. Preferred Woodwards, Eatons, the Army Navy and Hamilton Harvey to the colonial icon but I still spent a lot of money at the Bay over the years. Must say it could not be more ironic to have what was once a proud Canadian company going bankrupt at the same time we Canadians are trying to shift our buying power north of the border.
I imagine a Bay computer somewhere stores the advice of a bean counter saying what I read on a piece of paper that was blowing around a Hamilton Harvey after they had gone bankrupt: "Very unlikely to be profitable for 25 years."
I got some deals on records before Hamilton Harvey closed for good. Did not get shit from the Bay.
