Canadian General Election 2025

This Canadian general election, the talking heads keep telling us, is unlike any that came before it. Thing is, everybody, even me, reckon the talking heads do not know shit.

The only thing making this election unlike previous elections in my coveted nation is the NDP vote collapsing in the Liberal's general direction and that collapse was predictable long ago. Canadians generally tuned out the NDP 2 or 3 years ago.

Some time in the future the NDP will once again suck up vast numbers of Liberal votes when they inevitably piss off most everybody even more effectively than they have recently.

Fucking Liberals know how to do two things really, really well. Piss people off and get elected. I do not think the people who originated democracy ever thought it would work in such a way. And, confoundingly, it kind of, sort of, not really, works for us.

  1. My first ever vote was Liberal to support Trudeau the elder. My next adventure was banging doors for the local MLA in support of my main man Dave Barrett. Both did shit that pissed off the money boys and I was ecstatic as my vote counted in both elections! Since then I have been NDP and disappointed the whole time. Move to the middle does not work. Money rules and the courts believe that. The most disappointing thing was that after all the years of the faux Liberals in BC that BC Rail and casino bullshit was they did nothing. I voted Liberal this election hoping that we could oust the religious nut bar in the Wack. NDP is going to get decimated in this election and it is time to bring the party back to its roots.
