(Political philosophies are often arranged linearly from left to right. This is wrong, very wrong, in my view. I prefer the spherical view wherein one finds individual liberty, the most necessary and indispensable value, at the centre. Without individual liberty you do not have shit. From the centre individual liberty gives way to society in various ways to the left and to the right to various degrees as we try and get on together without getting into one anothers' business.)
For as long as I can remember our society, Canadian society, has drifted to the right. Much as the rest of the world has done. The drift, in fact, has been undemocratically to the right. The fuck the Constitution right we may well be exposed to here in Canada if the Conservatives get the chance to govern they expect in the near future. The so called strongmen already holding sway here and there, including the USA yet again, both foreshadow the future and provide fair warning to those who value freedom in my country and yours.
Cool thing is you, the people, surprise me now and again with how much you like expressing yourselves. Everybody knows the future is not written, we'll be doing that, on beachheads of liberty long fought over, for a long time yet.
