What wisdom I possess, which ain't much, I have received from books. Having reached page 364 of Will Hermes' 'The King of New York', an highly recommended biography of Lou Reed and New York culture in general, I did find a quote from Hubert Selby Jr., lifted from an interview he did with Reed in 1990.
"This is the only country where only bad actors have power. Not men of imagination."
